CONCEPT
Maruai is a stationery company with more than 130 years of history, while continuously developing products suited to changing times. The company offered me a position for art direction and design of a new product series, re-examining the basis of stationery with the pursuit of functionality. Maruai is a very true-to-basics company, with a mission of providing user-friendly goods for the long term.
Accordingly, I focused on creating the concept, naming, logo, product design, and packaging that would establish the new line as a core product of the company. I utilized the in-house factory, whose classic machinery enabled the rich, luxurious colors and printing quality that would have been difficult for competitors to achieve at the same cost. While producing the series, I worked on direction and design with an overall focus on the items’ quality, price, and manufacturing cost.
